"It's very, very exciting," said Babcock, chief of education and training for the Richmond SPCA, who hopes the cover shot and story will call attention to rescued dogs. "I think this is a great way to suggest that."

Would you look at all the self-esteem on her.

MONDAY, Jan. 14 (HealthDay News) -- Obesity and depression often go hand-in-hand in middle-aged women, a new U.S. study found.

Women with clinical depression were more than twice as likely to be obese (a body mass index of 30 or more), and obese women were more than twice as likely to be depressed, the study found'

It's likely that depression and obesity fuel one another, said lead author Dr. Gregory Simon, a psychiatrist and researcher at Group Health Cooperative in Seattle.

"When people gain weight, they're more likely to become depressed, and when they get depressed, they have more trouble losing weight," he said in a prepared statement.
k.b: I could have told you that.

"It's not that these women are clueless. It's that they're hopeless," said Simon, who suggested that if obese women focus on rebuilding their self esteem, it may help them lose weight.
k.b.: Ah, now we have it. The old self-esteem pitfall. Let's just bring in the self-esteem fairy.

k.b: Maybe they're lazy, like me.

Shut-Up

Bill Clinton compiles 'list' of Obama attacks.

In a nationally syndicated radio interview on WVON, Bill Clinton said Hillary Clinton's way of handling attacks showed a clear difference from Obama. "She didn't complain about it," he said, citing one in particular that he considered "appalling."

Mount Everest And Sir Edmund Hillary, Forever In The Clouds

Ever since watching Lance Armstrong win his seventh Tour de France, I have admired the men and women of endurance sports. To put your body through all the training required and then the final push to achieve your goal is amazing. REUTERS/Gopal Chitrakar/Files (NEPAL)

As I was watching the Discovery Channel around the time of the race I came upon a show featuring the sport of high mountain climbing. Not just any mountains but the 8000+ peaks of the Himalayas, particularly Mount Everest. One of those pioneers of climbing Mount Everest died Friday, January 11th, in hospital at the age of 88. He is Sir Edmund Hillary.

Our Nation Making History

Today in 2008 we have such a historic event happening in our nation's election history. A woman and a black man vying to be the next president of the United States.

What are their campaigns and the media concentrating on? The negatives that each has to offer the country because of who they are. What a sorry situation. Both camps better change their strategy. Put their staff on verbal lock down. Offer up the positives of this history making decision along with specific policies they have to offer for change. Hillary Clinton shouldn't be treating this election as an entitlement and Barack Obama shouldn't be campaigning as a rising star.

Why all the personal meanness? I see it right down to the level of the comments on blogs. We want a Democrat in the White House. The Republicans will drive a wedge any way they can and the Democrats are giving them a wide opening.

UPDATE 12:08 PM: I don't like what the media is doing to John Edwards either. Maybe we shouldn't consider him out of the race just yet. You may not like another "southern white man" in the White House but we should take a good look and listen to his proposals for this country's future.

Bad Dreams - New Day

sad blue smileySome nights the bad dreams just suck. You wake up, get out of bed and you're still exhausted. Your body feels every ache and pain. You're doing good if you get downstairs and still want to make coffee, but you do. You climb back upstairs with your "fuffy" dogs following you because they know you need them. A little more rest with some coffee and then you're up. You push but it's not easy. Then you look outside and you're lucky to find a sunny day and you wish you had more people to share it with. Share your day, share your ideas, share your dreams. Drive the bad ones away.

How Does Fox Fair And Balanced News Get Away With This Shit

Fox News appears to be using an actor in their focus group. Faux News strikes again.

On New Hampshire's primary day they were reporting that former Bill Clinton campaign strategist Paul Begala was joining the Hillary Clinton campaign. Even after Begala denied it in an email to the reporter at Fox they still continued to report the story with no change. After another email from Begala they said their source was strong but they would take his denial under advisement. What the fuck. They should be taken off the air.

Read Paul Begala's story.
