A Little New Years Day Music From A Favorite Of Ours (Dad and Me)

Monkeys On Ebay

I was outbid over the holidays on these adorable slippers. Another pair have been listed and this time I will be more vigilante and prevail.

Update I: 01/05/08 9:48 PM
I've been outbid again on these slippers and in these trying times with the economy I have decided that the socks on my feet will keep them warm just fine.

Update II: 01/06/08 I caved, I won and the slippers are mine.

I Should Be Able To Take This From My Front Porch, But No...........

Our next "Eyes Wide Open" photography Meetup is January 24th and of course I've sent out a shout to everyone coming to bring printed photos this time. So here I am in the front yard at 9:00 in the morning with socks on trying to creep up on a cat that's been leaving it's pee smell all over my bushes.

Coincidentally I've been yammering about needing a new telephoto lens. I know the yammer has reached its peak when Bruce shouts out "Kath, you're killing me." I'm sure that's meant both financially and acoustically. This telephoto lens with both auto focus and vibration reduction (no worries about shaky hands) will save me from neighborhood humiliation and wet feet!

Now You Tell Me This War Was Worth It

Christian Golczynski, 8, receives the flag that covered the coffin of his father, U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Marcus Golczynski, from Lt. Col. Ric Thompson during a graveside service in Wheeler, Tenn. in this Wednesday, April 4, 2007 file photo. Golczynski, who had been a Marine reservist for 12 years, was shot March 27 by enemy fire while on patrol in Anbar province, where he was stationed on his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was assigned to the Marine Forces Reserve's Third Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, Fourth Marine Division, in Nashville. The second half of 2007 saw violence drop dramatically in Iraq, but the progress came at a high price: the year was the deadliest for U.S. troops since the 2003 invasion.

It's Election Year 2008, I'm Back And It's Not Going To Be Pretty

Here we have the results of the Bush Administration's hand holding policy with the so called President of Pakistan. Now I'm not saying Benazir Bhutto couldn't have done alot more in the way of protecting herself. It was known she received all kinds of warnings regarding her security and she chose for some reason to ignore them but it is the Bush policy of looking the other way when a dictator, who is supposed to be an ally in regards to the "war on terror", is doing a half ass job, WITH OUR COUNTRY'S MONEY. That is outrageous.
